In order to have a manuscript considered for publication it must be submitted as follows:
Subject Preferences: Well written and illustrated Canadian and North American regional dive destination articles. Most travel articles are committed up to a year in advance and there is limited scope for new material. No payment for travel feature-but will give extended complimentary subscription.
Submission: with illustrations should be e-mailed or on CD-PC or Mac in MS Word, with a hard copy. Must be concise and clear; other materials enclosed should be marked for easy identification and reference. Only complete articles as described with illustrations will be considered. Package only one completed article per submission to Diver Magazine, 241 East 1st Street, North Vancouver, BC V7L 1B4.
Length: Between 500 and 1000 words. Well illustrated, shorter pieces are preferred.
Illustrations: Digital files Jpeg or Tiffs with high resolutions (300 dpi), Original slides, 5"x7" colour prints, maps, drawings. Each item should be labelled with name, address and description. Captions and credits on separate sheet must be numbered to match. Photos by other than writer of article must be clearly indicated on each picture. (Payment made only to author or submitter.)
Return Envelope: Please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope if you wish your materials returned. International Reply Coupons accepted. DIVER Magazine assumes no responsibility for loss or damage of unsolicited manuscripts or photographs.
Scheduling: Unsolicited travel articles will be viewed only from July through August for possible use in the following year (eight issues). Material sent prior to that period is subject to being unopened until then or returned. Only articles with good illustrations will be considered.
Acknowledgment: We will acknowledge receipt of articles or return immediately if not suitable. Acknowledgement does not mean acceptance. We may hold material for up to 90 days before deciding (except travel articles see "Scheduling" above). Payment: Payment to author for text and photos will be made by cheque six to eight weeks after the date of publication. Rights purchased are First North American. Any story may be archived on our website unless its exemption is requested in writing. Rates are $2.50 per column inch text, and $15 for photos. Cover shots $100.
