US-based distributor of scuba equipment has recalled regulators due to "drowning hazard".
ROMI has not reported any reports of injury, but there have been two reports of the units malfunctioning during dives and six reports of the product malfunctioning during dealer testing. These regulator first stages were available at Oceanic and AERIS retailers across the United State and Canada from May 2006 to October 2007.
According to the US Product Safety Commission the regulators were manufactured in the United States and Taiwan. The
Commission advises divers who own one of the regulators to "immediately stop using the recalled regulator first stages and take them to any authorized Oceanic or AERIS dealer for a free replacement part."
A diver who may be concerned about the regulator recall should contact ROMI toll-free at (888) 636-9390. Oceanic customers can send a letter to service@oceanicusa.com or visit www.oceanicworldwide.com. AERIS customers can send an E-mail to info@diveaeris.com or visit www.diveaeris.
