Rinspeed has made a name for itself inventing and building car conversion concepts. Rinspeed recently announced its newest project: the World’s First Underwater Car. Named "sQuba," the proposed car will be able to drive on roads, and "drive" underwater to a depth of meters (33 feet).

Frank M. Rinderknecht is a 52-year old, Zurich Switerland based marketing whiz and inventor.

For the past decade his company, Rinspeed, has made a name for itself inventing and building car conversion concepts.

Rinspeed designs, if nothing else, are eye-catching. From the Rinspeed Nissan "SpeedArt" (a car hand-painted with 420 circus horses) to the Rinspeed eXasis (ethereally transparent car), Mr. Rinderknecht continues to produce vehicles that he describes as "World Novelty". Now his 10-person company is setting their design sites underwater!

In December Rinspeed announced its newest project: The World’s First Underwater Car. Named "sQuba," the proposed car will be able to drive on roads, and "drive" underwater to a depth of meters (33 feet).

Rinderknecht says that sQuba will be the world's first real car to drive both on land and underwater, because he is using leading-edge technology. The car will have a steel chassis, while its lightweight body panels will use carbon nanotubes.
