The National Post reports that Calgary, Alberta has more scuba divers per capita than any other city in North America. The Toronto based newspaper
interviewed Charlene Barker, the owner of Aqua Sport Scuba Centre, who has noticed a dramatic increase in the number of customers wanting to take scuba lessons at her Calgary shop.
"Diving has gained enormous popularity in the last decade", Barker says. She attributes Calgary's figures to the large amount of disposable income in the city, the high level of athletically minded people, and the fact that many love to travel, especially during winter.
