The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation is funding a mooring project aimed to protect the fragile coral reefs of the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary.

This summer a number of permanent moorings were installed in key scuba diving areas of the sanctuary located 100 miles off the coast of Galveston Texas, in the Gulf of Mexico. The underwater park is a no anchor zone, these moorings that allow boats less than 100 feet long, to tie up and access the sanctuary.
