Underwater ironing record to be attempted
A group of British divers is looking for worldwide help setting a world’s record in January. The Torbay British Sub Aqua Club used to hold the world record for the largest number of people simultaneously iron clothes underwater, but lost the title earlier this year by 72 members of an Australian dive club. 80 divers have already signed up to take part in the UK dive, which will be held in a Yorkshire quarry near Chepstow. Entrants must be certified divers and able to iron at least one article of clothing on an ironing board at the bottom of the quarry. Interested divers can register by phoning the club at 07890 695464 or by visiting www.justgiving.com/yorkshire-divers2008-2009.
