Loves Park Dive Museum Surfaces

The community of Love Park, Illinois has a new museum. Earlier this year the 1,800-square-foot Lockwood Pioneer Diving Museum, opened its doors to visitors.
A potentially serious defect has been detected in a certain production run of the Poseidon W50 Bladder used in conjunction with both the platform and BeSea model BCDs.
This August the Aurora St. Luke's Medical Centre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will begin to treat patients in what will be North America's second largest hyperbaric chamber. Milwaukee is a major hub for Lake Michigan shipwreck divers.

The US election will be held in November, but divers can get a jump on the big event by visiting the Florida Keys this July.  The 'Reefpublicans' and the 'Democrabs' will be squaring off – underwater -- in a well orchestrated special Eel-Ection on July 12th in Looe Key.

TripAdvisor, a popular Internet website, recently released the results of its annual summer travel survey of more than 4,000 travelers worldwide.

The Toronto-based newspaper National Post reports that Calgary, Alberta has more scuba divers per capita than any other city in North America.

Wetsuit Inventor Dies

Hugh Bradner, a US physicist who is credited with inventing the neoprene wetsuit, has died at his home in San Diego at the age of 92.
Dominica’s Dive Fest, the Caribbean’s longest running scuba diving festival, will run July 11 to 20th, 2008.
Turkey knows how to bring the house down on dive shows! In May, the Seventh International Underwater Days Exhibition ended with the sinking of a mothballed Coast Guard ship!
In a show transmitted over the Internet and satellite television, Argentine rocker Javier Calamaro went to 7m (23 ft) in a special capsule to play "underwater music" to mark the arrival of migrating southern right whales. Calamaro performed May 31st in Golfo Nuevo off the coast of the Valdes penninsula in Chubut province, where the huge marine mammals are known to be seen as they shift northwards to winter in warmer waters.
